1. BENNING PV 2

(PV installation tester and characteristic curve measuring device)

The Benning PV 2 is a photovoltaic installation tester and characteristic curve measuring device for commissioning, periodic testing and performance assessment of PV systems.

  • Testing according to DIN EN 62446 (VDE 0126-23) and DIN EN 61829 (VDE 0126-24)
  • simple – operation via buttons with AUTO test sequence
  • fast – check in a few seconds
  • safe – contact via PV connectors

Before commissioning and during periodic inspections, a photovoltaic system must be safety-tested and documented in accordance with DIN EN 62446 (VDE 0126-23). Furthermore, electrical measurements are also advisable after cleaning and maintenance work to ensure continued optimal and low-loss operation of the photovoltaic system.

The test includes a continuity test of the protective and equipotential bonding conductors between the PV generator and the main earth terminal, measurement of the open-circuit voltage and short-circuit current in the PV string, and measurement of the insulation resistance between the active DC conductors (+/-) of the PV generator and earth. The BENNING PV 2 uses touch-protected measuring cables with standardized connectors for direct connection to PV modules or strings. The automatic test sequence warns of incorrect DC polarity and performs all necessary wiring for safe measurement .

Measuring the current-voltage characteristic curve at the installation site in accordance with DIN EN 62446 (VDE 0126-23) is a practical method for assessing the performance of photovoltaic systems. The measured IU characteristic curves are converted to STC conditions (Standard Test Conditions) using evaluation tools such as the BENNING SOLAR Manager PC software and the BENNING PV Link Android app. They can then be compared with the manufacturer's nominal PV module data using an integrated PV module database. Deviations and performance reductions are clearly identified and can be documented accordingly. Furthermore, the course of an IU characteristic curve provides helpful information about the condition of a PV system and indicates potential errors.

All of these tests can be performed easily, quickly, reliably, and safely with the BENNING PV 2 photovoltaic installation tester and characteristic curve measuring device. This device is recommended for solar installers, photovoltaic experts, and service, cleaning, and maintenance teams.
