- Measure energy flows in the household and control them based on forecasts
Easy and quick installation
- Plug-and-play configuration after installation in the control cabinet
- Low installation effort saves time and costs
Future-proof communication connections
- Integrate more intelligent consumers via standard interfaces EEBus and SEMP
- Compatibility with cost-effective standard Wi-Fi radio sockets enables control of simple consumers
Observe your own consumption habits
Identify savings potential
- How much energy do dishwashers, washing machines and dryers use?
- How much more energy does an old refrigerator consume compared to a refrigerator with energy efficiency class A++?
- How much solar power does a PV system produce on a sunny day?
Connected to all important household appliances, the Sunny Home Manager optimizes energy consumption in the household: It automatically switches on flexible household appliances when the sun provides energy – the first step towards reduced electricity costs and more energy-conscious behavior.
This is what the Sunny Home Manager offers
- Clear representation of the most important energy flows in the household
- Energy balance with PV generation, direct consumption, battery charging/discharging
- Display of the energy mix used for individual household appliances (power from PV, battery, grid)
- Display of power and energy values with different display options
- PV yield security through basic system monitoring
Energy balance
The evaluation page displays the energy balance for a desired period of time. It enables analyses of generation, consumption, self-consumption, and battery usage.
Energy management made easy
Energy management with SMA Smart Home automatically reduces electricity costs
As soon as all energy flows in the household are known, the Sunny Home Manager takes on the task for which it was developed... managing energy.
Through its connection to the relevant household appliances, the optional battery storage, and the PV generation, the Sunny Home Manager knows at all times how much energy is available and where it is needed. Using a weather forecast based on internet data and individual adjustment to local conditions, it can accurately predict solar radiation for several hours and thus supply the connected household appliances with cost-effective PV energy. Thanks to the Sunny Home Manager's self-learning function, the heat pump, for example, runs precisely when the sun is shining sufficiently and the required electricity can actually be covered by solar generation.
The Sunny Portal online portal displays the status of the PV system and forecasts for energy availability and consumption. The planned operating period for the household appliances included in the Sunny Home Manager's energy planning is specified. For example, you know that the washing machine will be finished at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon and that most of the laundry is done with solar power. It also provides tips on how the available PV energy could be used.
The diagrams in Sunny Portal show the connected household appliances with their power consumption and operating data: For example, you can see exactly when the dishwasher was started by the Sunny Home Manager, or how much solar power the heat pump used in the last month.
The consumer balance provides an overview of the operating time, duration and consumption of the automatically controlled devices in energy management as well as the energy mix used.
Ideal partner for professional monitoring
Sunny Portal Professional Package for more system details and higher performance
The combination of the Sunny Portal Professional Package and Sunny Home Manager is ideal for professional monitoring of systems with a power range between 5 kWp and 50 kWp. Users can also read the most relevant DC and AC measured values from the inverters and draw conclusions about performance and yield. With the Sunny Portal Professional Package, system data is displayed in 5-minute resolution, providing even more detailed information. Using the comprehensive energy balance, system operators can analyze their daily energy usage even more precisely and learn a lot about their consumption behavior.
Save energy intelligently
Control of household appliances
Energy savings are especially high when the Sunny Home Manager 2.0 can distribute solar power to household appliances according to its schedule. This is especially beneficial when the household's major power consumers can be taken into account. SMA offers various solutions to enable the Sunny Home Manager 2.0 to access these devices:
Turning any device on and off
The Sunny Home Manager 2.0 is compatible with selected WLAN radio-controlled sockets available from electronics retailers (see accessories).
The radio-controlled sockets switch devices on and off using control signals from the Sunny Home Manager 2.0. The Sunny Home Manager measures power consumption and remembers exactly how much power the device used and for how long.
Washing machines, dishwashers, dryers, heating elements, pumps and much more are suitable for energy management control.
Radio-controlled sockets are available in various country versions. Further information can be found in our SMA Smart Home planning guide, available from April 2017.
Smart consumers with direct data connection
The future is the connected home. SMA, together with several partners, already enables the Sunny Home Manager 2.0 to be connected to large household appliances, which automatically exchange information for energy management:
Simply install via plug-and-play ... and the intelligent heat pump coordinates with the Sunny Home Manager 2.0 to determine the best time to heat your home with solar power.
Cooperation partner in the SMA Smart Home
- Stiebel Eltron heat pumps
For the compatibility list, see the “SMA Smart Home” planning guide (available in April 2017). - MENNEKES AMTRON® wall-mounted charging stations (Premium/Xtra models)
- Household appliances with the EEBUS communication standard (e.g. Bosch-Siemens household appliances)
More and more controllable devices are integrating the EEBUS standard for energy efficiency. Detailed information on compatible devices and setup is available from the respective manufacturers.
Store energy intelligently
Store energy when it is most worthwhile
According to the active power limitation applicable in Germany, PV systems with battery storage must reduce the PV inverters if more than 50% of the installed PV power (kWp) would be fed into the grid.
With its PV generation forecast and measured household consumption, the Sunny Home Manager 2.0 knows exactly whether it needs to reduce power output during the middle of the day, for example. Even if up to 100% of PV power is available on sunny days, if no one is home to consume this power, anything above 50% has to be discarded.
To still be able to use the valuable PV power, it's best to store it in the battery. This allows you to run the TV or cook dinner in the evening with practically free energy.
The Sunny Home Manager 2.0 always ensures the necessary space in the battery. Instead of filling the battery with excess PV power in the morning, the Sunny Home Manager 2.0 controls the battery inverter so that as much of the PV energy that can be regulated during the midday peak can be loaded into the battery. Energy costs are reduced by maximizing the use of inexpensive PV power.
